National Specialty
See p. 2 of the ABMC’S National Specialty Procedure Manual for information as to how to submit a proposal to host a National Specialty.

Regional Specialties
The current ABMC Regional Specialty Policy is:
“Regional Specialties will be limited to two specialties a year per region and will not be held within 3 months of the ABMC National Specialty.  There will be no regional specialties within the calendar year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31) in the region which will host the ABMC National Specialty and any supported entries in that region will not be held within 6 months of the ABMC National Specialty. Exceptions to this policy may be granted by the Board on a case by case basis.”
This policy was voted on by the membership in 2008 and can only be changed by a vote of the membership.  The current ABMC Board of Directors encourages Regional Specialties and invites the membership to request approval of Regional Specialties.  In recent months, however, we have received requests for emergency approval of Regional Specialties as they are nearing or past the deadline for submission to AKC.  This BOD will be meeting monthly on the second Thursday and will consider all requests for regional specialties at those meetings only.  We request that your application for Regional Specialties be submitted in a manner to allow time to be considered at the meetings.
