The American Belgian Malinois Club offers the Register of Merit (ROM) title in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class for Malinois owned by ABMC members<\/strong> that have proven themselves to be outstanding “multi-purpose” dogs as evidenced by holding advanced titles and\/or titles in a variety of events.<\/p>\n

Current title holders may be seen by clicking the appropriate title below.<\/p>\n

Register of Merit – 1st Class – ROM I<\/a><\/p>\n

Register of Merit –\u00a02nd Class\u00a0– ROM II<\/a><\/p>\n

Register of Merit – 3rd Class\u00a0– ROM III<\/a><\/p>\n

All applicants for the ROM title must:
1.\u00a0 be registered with the AKC and have no disqualifying faults,
2.\u00a0 have an OFA number,\u00a0 and
3.\u00a0 be tattooed or microchipped.<\/p>\n

In addition, the requirements are as follows:<\/p>\n

ROM I (1st Class) requirements:
<\/strong>CH and at least one of the following: UD, HX, VST, AX, AXJ, AXP, AJP, SWM, IGP3\/<\/span>IPO3\/SchH3, RING 3, SAR, PD. \u00a0 <\/span>Dogs must have CH to earn a ROM I.<\/span><\/p>\n

ROM II (2nd Class) requirements:
<\/strong>CH and at least one of the following: CDX, RAE, HI, TDX, OA, OAJ, OAP, OJP, SWE, IGP2\/IPO2\/SchH2, RING 2
<\/span>For non-CH dogs at least one of the following: UD, HX, VST, AX, AXJ, AXP, AJP, SWM, IGP3\/IPO3\/SchH3, RING 3, SAR, PD<\/span><\/p>\n

ROM III (3rd Class) requirements:
<\/strong>CH and at least one of the following: CD, HS, TD, TDU, NA, NAJ, NAP, NJP, RE, SWA, IGP1\/IPO1\/SchH1, RING 1
<\/span>For non-CH dogs at least one of the following:\u00a0 CDX, RAE, HI, TDX, OA, OAJ, OAP, OJP, \u00a0SWE, IGP2\/IPO2\/SchH2, RING 2<\/span><\/p>\n

To apply for the Register of Merit program, the ABMC member must submit the following by email to Melissa DeWitt<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>ROM Custodian<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. ABMC REGISTER OF MERIT APPLICATION<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. color photo, dog only, side view<\/li>\n
  3. AKC\/PAL registration certificate<\/li>\n
  4. OFA hips certificate\u00a0<\/li>\n
  5. most recent AKC title certificate (for working dog titles, see the bottom of the Working Dog committee<\/a> page)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After a dog has been admitted into the ROM program \u00a0the owner may <\/span>Upgrade <\/strong>to a higher ROM class or <\/span>Update<\/strong> the dog’s titles within their existing ROM class simply by emailing the most recent AKC title certificate to the ROM Custodian (for working dog titles, see the <\/span>Working Dog committee<\/a> page first). \u00a0If the<\/span> Upgrade <\/span><\/strong>is to ROM I please also include in the email the dog’s call name, your phone number, and your mailing address.<\/span><\/p>\n

    There is no charge for the initial ROM application nor for upgrading to a higher ROM class or updating a dog’s titles within the same ROM class. \u00a0Owners of ROM dogs receive a personalize plaque for ROM I or a printable certificate for ROM II and ROM III. \u00a0Their dog will also be added to ABMC website (see links at the top of the page) and an announcement of the ROM will be appear in the Performer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Please note:
    \u2022 The ABMC is an AKC club.  Titles eligible for ROM recognization appear above. These are either recognized by the AKC and\/or approved by the ABMC board.
    \u2022 For information on ROM-eligible Working Dog titles please see the     Working Dog <\/a>committee’s page.
    \u2022 Titles from registries recognized by the AKC may be added to your dog’s AKC record through links on the AKC’s     Parent Club Title Recognition Program<\/a> page.
